What is BFF Gemz? BFF Gemz is a combination of a smart necklace and a private online social networking space exclusively for girls. The necklace is used to add friends with other necklace users and only these friends get to be friends online. Also, you can send and receive secret color coded messages from necklace to necklace over a max distance of 2 football fields.

Does it cost any money to join bffgemz.com? No. BFF Gemz maintains an online platform that is completely free to join. There are no subscriptions to maintain your account.

What are the different buttons on the Gemz? Bottom: On/Off
Left: Friend
Top: Message
Right: Send

How do you add a friend? To add a friend: You and your friend both need to press the friend button on your necklaces at the same time for 3 seconds. Your friend buttons should light up with a random color. This is the color of your friend that you just added. Her necklace will also assign a color to you.

How do you send a message? Select the Friend Color: Keep pressing the friend button repeatedly until you reach the friend color that you want to send the message to. Select your message colors (2 colors for 1 message): Keep pressing the message button repeatedly until you reach the message colors that you want to send the message to. Send: Hit the Send button with the pen symbol.

How do you acknowledge a message? When you receive a message, the front side of your necklace glows. Check the backside to view the displayed message from your Message button and the sender from the Friend button. You can press the send button to stop the Lights from glowing.

My necklace won’t connect to my profile to update. What should I do? The first thing you should do is make sure you have downloaded the desktop software, called GemzConnect, which is available at the bottom of every page on bffgemz.com. If you already have the software installed and nothing is happening, check to make sure the BFF Gemz pendant plugged in to your device is the same device registered with the username and password entered. If you are certain that this is also correct, please call us at 682-BFF-GEMZ (233-4369).

The network is private? What does that mean? There is no “search” feature and no “add friend” button on this social network. The only way you add friends is with your necklaces in real life or by getting invited by a verified necklace user which is capped at 4 invites. You can only view the profiles of your added friends and no outsiders can view your profile.

How many friends can I add with my BFF Gemz pendant? Each Gemz pendant allows you to add up to eight friends, though by redeeming GPA, you can add more. Also, each registered necklace owner gets at least four invitations to bring your other friends into your network. BFF Gemz is designed to be an intimate place for best friends, to make sure that strong relationships stay personal.

Can I create a Gemz profile without having a necklace? Yes, but you won’t be able to have friends online unless you buy a necklace or get an email invite from a Necklace user. Although, you can enjoy all other features of this site for FREE.

Where can I get my own BFF Gemz? You can buy online at our BFF Gemz shop page or buy at our retail location at Westfield Hawthorn Mall in Vernon Hills, IL. We’re on the 2nd floor, between Justice and The Icing.

My battery seems to have died. What do I do? The BFF Gemz pendent operates on a rechargeable battery. So plug your necklace with the provided USB cord to your computer or a USB wall adapter if you have it. Your Gemz should come back to life and you’ll soon be ready to send & receive messages.

I have a Mac. Will BFF Gemz work on my computer? For now, BFF Gemz only operates on Windows-based systems. A Mac-friendly version is in the works and is expected to be released shortly.
